BENGALURU: It is not possible to restore Bellandur Lake in a couple of days, said Bengaluru development Minsiter K J George on Friday. Work needs to be carried out in a practical manner, he added.
He said froth in the lake was caused by the presence of phosphorus in detergents and the government was building sewage treatment plants to stop it.
“By October-November, we aim to purify 80 per cent of the water. A tender has been called and work orders have been given to purify 100 per cent of water by 2020. Until then, a proposal to use wetland treatment to purify the water coming into the lake will be taken up by the Cabinet,” he said.
