154 allottees to finally get sites in Bengaluru's Arkavathy Layout

After years of struggle by Arkavathy allottees whose sites were denotified, the Bangalore Development Authority will finally allot 154 sites to registered allottees at Arkavathy itself on Monday.

BENGALURU: After years of struggle by Arkavathy allottees whose sites were denotified, the Bangalore Development Authority will finally allot 154 sites to registered allottees at Arkavathy itself on Monday. BDA Secretary Basavaraju told Express, “A total of 72 allottees who lost their 30x40 sites and 82 allottees who lost their 20x30 sites will be provided alternative sites on Monday.” The allotment will be given only based on ‘seniority of registration’. Priority will be given to those who had registered their sites earlier.

“The assurance was given to the allottees by the Secretary on Wednesday at the BDA head office,” said Nagaraj, president of the Arkavathy Layout Allottees Action Forum. Another forum member Chandrashekhar said, “We went to the BDA office to witness the computer-based random method to pick out the house numbers for the 154 who will be allotted the sites.” Arkavathy Layout spreads across 8,813 sites in Dasarahalli, Tanisandra, K Narayanapura, Chalekere, Byratikhana, Gedalahalli and Prachenah a l l i ( a ll in Beng a l u - ru East) and Amrutahalli, Jakkur, Kempepura, Sampigehalli, Srirampura, Venkateshpura, Hennur, Hebbal and Nagavara (in Yelahanka) villages. Nearly 3,500 of them lost their sites due to a series of denotification orders issued by the State government from 2012.

Roughly 2,000 allottees have completed registration of sites, paid the taxes for the property and completed the mandatory 10-year lease period while nearly 1,500 allottees have paid full and got the allotment letters, Nagaraj said. The allottees had planned to go on a massive dharna if this allotment was not okayed today, he added. The State has also offered alternative sites in Kempe Gowda Layout but most allottees were not interested in them.
