BENGALURU: Cosplay is fashionable art. Last weekend, the sixth edition of Bengaluru Comic Con ended on a highly fashionable note, proving that the geek world is all about fun, fashion and trends, as much as it is about comics and superheroes.

This year, majority of cosplayers chose to dress like characters from the Avengers, mainly Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Thor and Loki. Game of Thrones was still a big hit with people, who were crowding to take selfies with the Night King. Star Wars fashion is arguably a classic statement that will not easily fade. Besides the popular movies and series, there were nuns in pantyhose and Annabelle in a long white dress. The effort put into costumes was commendable, even for first timers.

For those like me, who could not dress up, an angelic halo made my Comic Con evening and so did the cat ears. The mood of the geek world made me realise the potential of cosplay, how interchangeable it is with fashion and left me with a desperate urge to dress up.If every day was a Comic Con, then there wouldn’t be days to under-dress. Would that be possible? Here are few hacks to make everyday dressing fun.

Be casual, but with a twist

We cope with boring days by dressing casual and it’s perfectly okay. But wouldn’t it be fun to tackle the lousy days by dressing up in the most subtle of ways? Like a colourful stole to bring life to dark shades or a metallic hair band to lift the look?

Shoes to the rescue
Wearing quirky sandals to work or rocking a pair of colourful gumboots, now that it is raining.

Socks can be fun too
Have you seen the varieties of cute socks available in the market? We have seriously underestimated the potential of socks. Wear thigh-highs with skirts and dresses and get your anime look on point, almost instantly. Wear embroidered ones with buckle shoes for the high-school look, and cartoon socks just to make you feel good.

Style your hair
This wouldn’t even count as dressing up. Just play with your hair and experiment with different hairstyles. Look up tutorials and don’t hesitate to be daring, because life would be so much fun if we could dress up every day, and what better time to do this than the winters?
