Applications invited to avail one lakh free houses in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Determined to deliver on his promise of providing one lakh houses for the poor in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday launched the process of accepting applications from the aspirants.

The multi-storied housing complexes to be built on government lands in Bengaluru Urban district would be of 30 sqm dimension with a hall, single bedroom,kitchen and toilet.Families with maximum annual income up to `87,600 would be eligible to apply. The government has reserved 30 per cent of the houses for Scheduled Castes, 10 per cent for Scheduled Tribes, 10 per cent for minorities and 50 per cent for General Category for allotment. The houses are expected to cost `5 lakh to `6 lakh. The state government will give a subsidy of `3.50 lakh for SCs and STs and `2.70 lakh for general category beneficiaries, Siddaramaiah said.
