Tanker owner booked for diesel theft

Sakleshpura police have booked a case against an owner of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited diesel tanker for allegedly siphoning off diesel from Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

BENGALURU: Sakleshpura police have booked a case against an owner of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited diesel tanker for allegedly siphoning off diesel from Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

According to KSRTC sources, on November 30, a confidential information was received at the security and vigilance department about a diesel tanker (KA-03 /D-1944) dispatched from Hassan BPCL Terminal, arriving at Sakleshpur depot of Chikkamagaluru Division to decant the diesel.

As per the information, in one of the compartments it had a hidden sub-tank through which the owner/driver was siphoning off the diesel. Based on the information, Chikkamagaluru Division officers were immediately sent to Sakleshpura depot to check the veracity of the information about the 20,000-litre tanker arriving there. They found a sub-tank welded to the hull of the 3rd compartment of the tanker.
KSRTC registered a case against the owner of M/S. Vijayalaxmi Transport and driver of the diesel tanker, Sadananda.
