A 26-year-old software engineer died after a speeding container truck rammed into her scooter on Sumanahalli flyover near Kamakshipalya on Saturday evening.

BENGALURU: A 26-year-old software engineer died after a speeding container truck rammed into her scooter on Sumanahalli flyover near Kamakshipalya on Saturday evening.The deceased has been identified as Nayana, daughter of Manjunath Hemmigi. She was a resident of Andrahalli in Peenya and had joined a private software company just a year ago.

A senior police officer said Nayana was returning home from a beauty parlour at Banashankari around 4.30pm when the speeding truck hit her scooter and she came under its rear wheel. As the deceased was wearing a half-helmet, it came off and her head was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle.
Other motorists caught the truck driver Chandrashekar, who was trying to flee, and immediately handed him over to Kamakshipalya traffic police.

Sridhar, an eyewitness at the spot, said the truck was being driven in a reckless manner and the driver was trying to overtake Nayana’s scooter.Sridhar was on his two-wheeler behind the truck. He said the truck was about to hit an auto before it rammed into Nayana’s scooter.
