BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday ordered the General Manager of the South Western Railway to pass a detailed speaking order in a month after one P Ravindra Naidu submitted a representation on allotting a special train to SWR Mazdoor Union free of cost.
A division bench of Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice R B Budihal issued this direction while disposing of a PIL filed by Naidu from Hubballi.
“The All India Railway Men’s Federation has organised the annual convention at Allahabad from November 8 to 10, 2016. The General Secretary of the union requested the railways to allot/run exclusive special train with 18 coaches from Mysuru to Allahabad. Accordingly, the train was allotted free of cost. This has caused threat to financial health of railways...” he said.
He explained that the administration has not verified the list of people proposed to travel, number of people granted casual leaves and number of people with issuance of special passes.
