Women constables followed Sasikala from courtroom to prison cell; a few followers who tried to enter the premises were stopped by cops

BENGALURU: The proceedings in the much talked about case involving top AIADMK top leaders from Tamil Nadu concluded within two hours. Sasikala and Ilavarsi, who walked into the court at 5.15 pm were sent to jail at 6.18, and Sudhakaran who arrived a little later, followed them by 7 pm.
Sasikala’s husband Natarajan was allowed inside the court premises.

When Sasikala walked from the courtroom to the cell, only a few women police constables followed her. As she entered her cell, she smiled at them. Some of her followers made an attempt to enter the prison premises, but were stopped by policemen.
After spending nearly about 55 minutes inside the court hall, she came out along with Ilavarasi. The duo was about to get into a police jeep to reach jail, about 100 meters from the court. Sensing trouble, AIADMK leader Pugazhendi alerted them not to take the jeep saying that ‘sahebru’ (the judge) asked them to reach the jail by walk.

It was a heart-rending scene as the young son and daughter of Ilavarasi assisted their mother in completed the paper work. Their eyes turned moist as they followed their mother till the prison after the court proceedings.
Sudhakaran entered the court about 20 minutes after Sasikala and Ilavarasi were housed in prison. The entire proceedings which began 5.15 with the arrival of the convicted, concluded by 7 pm.
When they expressed concerns over their health, prison officials told them that the doctors will take care of it, including providing medicines to them.
The judicial officers as well as the police personnel were relieved after the proceedings ended peacefully, without any untoward incident.
