BENGALURU: The two senior BJP leaders, state president B S Yeddyurappa and Leader of Opposition in Council K S Eshwarappa, exchanged words of praise for each other, signalling that their differences are ebbing.

At an OBC Morcha executive meet held at the BJP office in the city on Saturday, Yeddyurappa lauded Eshwarappa’s efforts to mobilise the backward classes and said, “After Eshwarappa was put in charge of mobilising the backward class and other disadvantaged groups, he has done such a good job that it has given great strength to the party.”

He also said that OBC conventions will be held on February 22 in Bidar and on February 23 in Yadgir as per Eshwarappa’s wish.

In return, Eshwarappa in his speech, was no less saccharine, declaring, “BJP should come to power and Yeddyurappa should come to power,” to loud applause. “There were some small problems within the party. But this party has a democratic setup, so national president Amit Shah made us sit together and asked us to work together so that our party comes to power. We will follow that order and make sure our party comes to power,” he said.

Yeddyurappa also said that Congress government was making promises that were unlikely to fructify. “What this government was unable to achieve in four years, it is unlikely to do so in this one year,” Yeddyurappa said.

He also welcomed people who wish to join the party. “There are many people who have expressed interest in joining the party. I welcome everyone who wants to join this party and will give them the right position in the party and together we will make sure we can win 150 seats,” he said.
