Man thrashed for sexual assault bid on minor

A 57-year-old man was thrashed by the public after he allegedly  took a minor girl to a graveyard at Viveknagar on Sunday and tried to sexually assault her.

BENGALURU: A 57-year-old man was thrashed by the public after he allegedly  took a minor girl to a graveyard at Viveknagar on Sunday and tried to sexually assault her.
The culprit who is undergoing treatment at NIMHANS hospital was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, said police.

The culprit has been identified as Suresh, a painter and a resident of Jairajnagar slum. He stays with his two
wives whom he married following his first wife’s untimely death.The police said that on Saturday afternoon, the 11-year-old girl, who is said to be his relative, was playing in front of the house.

Suresh lured the girl with a chocolate and took her to the graveyard and tried to sexually assault  her. The girl, however, raised an alarm and passersby rushed to see what happened. Suresh somehow managed to escape.
The girl reached home and narrated the incident. Suresh did not return home on Saturday night. The parents of the girl found him sleeping in an auto on Austin Town road. They thrashed him along with the public and alerted the police.
Viveknagar police took the injured accused to NIMHANS where he is said to be recovering. Based on the complaint by the girl’s parents, police booked him under POCSO Act. Further investigations are on.
