French Minister rides in Bengaluru's Namma Metro

Minister of foreign affairs and international development of France Jean-Marc Ayrault took a ride on a heavily crowded Namma Metro.

BENGALURU: Minister of foreign affairs and international development of France Jean-Marc Ayrault took a ride on a heavily crowded Namma Metro on Monday morning.

The minister started his journey from the Vidhana Soudha Metro Station, where his team and entourage were welcomed by BMRCL MD Pradeep Singh Kharola and other Metro officials with a garland.

Amidst extensive security arrangement by the local police and his own security cover, the minister walked two floors below to Platform 1, where he boarded a packed Metro towards MG Road at about 10.18 AM, encircled by photographers. 

Namma Metro has been extended a loan of Rs 780 crore (110 million Euros) for Phase 1 by Agence Francaise De Development (AFD), the development body of the Government of France.
