Mechanic held for obscenity; two arrested for harassment

Sadashivanagar police have arrested the person who allegedly made obscene gestures in front of a house on 3rd Main in the locality on January 5. 

BENGALURU: Sadashivanagar police have arrested the person who allegedly made obscene gestures in front of a house on 3rd Main in the locality on January 5. He has been identified as Parvez, a bike mechanic.

On January 5, the woman was standing in front of her house with her minor daughter. Parvez, 34, who passed on a bike allegedly made some obscene gestures and flashed his private parts. The woman raised an alarm and passersby rushed to her rescue. Parvez fled from the spot. However, the woman was able to note down the vehicle number of the accused.

A police complaint was later registered in this connection. Based on the description provided by the woman and locals, Parvez was detained. During questioning, he said he was going to attend nature’s call at the time of incident. A court remanded him to judicial custody. Police said Parvez seems to be mentally-challenged.

In another case, a couple have accused two persons of sexual harassment.

In the complaint, the couple said, “The incident took place on January 7 around 1.30am when we were returning home after dinner. Two persons who were on Church street made derogatory remarks.” Cubbon Park police registered a case and investigations are under way.
