BENGALURU: The huge traffic congestion experienced at the Central Silk Board Junction will be eased when the proposed Metro line between K R Puram and Silk Board is completed, said Bengaluru Development Minister K G George. An elevated road-cum-rail flyover will be constructed between Ragigudda and Central Silk Board to facilitate this, he added. The 17-km Outer Ring Road stretch is slated to cost Rs 4,202 crore. The Central Silk Board station will be developed as an interchange station at a cost of Rs 900 crore.

Briefing reporters on the line at the BMRDA office on Thursday, George said, “The stretch would be part of Metro Phase 2A. BDA will bear Rs 100 crore of the cost to develop the CSB station while BMRCL will bear Rs 800 crore,” he said. BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said, “The Detailed Project Report of ORR line is being readied. It will be submitted to the government in a month for approval. It will take 30 to 36 months after approval to ready the line.”

The CSB station of RV Road-Bommasandra Line will be on the Southern side of the road and the station of KR Puram-CSB line will be on northern side near the CSB junction and it will be an interchange station, said an official handout. The station would handle 57,594 peak hour density traffic and is expected to have a daily station loading of 1,42,324 passengers, it said.

“The Jayadeva Flyover will be demolished to construct the line. The huge plus point for the public would be that the route would be signal-free except for one to the right of HSR Layout,” George said. Once the Interchange is ready, it will provide connectivity through Metro line to Electronics City, Jayadeva Interchange station, RV Road Interchange station, Majestic through Phase-2 line, as well as Baiyappanahalli, K R Puram and Whitefield through K R Puram-CSB line.
