BSY, KSE row: RSS to meet on Tuesday

BJP state’s General Secretary Aravind Limbavali also said that no such letter had been received.

BENGALURU: Seniors in RSS, who are said to be meeting on January 17 for their ‘Samanvaya Baithak’, are likely to address the row between the warring leaders of Karnataka BJP unit, its CM candidate B S Yeddyurappa and Leader of Opposition in the Council K S Eshwarappa.

“It is normal practice for RSS to step in when there are issues to be resolved. Both leaders are of chief ministerial stature and RSS can play a constructive role here,” a source in the BJP said.

RSS members, however, declined to give a clear picture saying that the issue had not reached them yet and the meeting on January 17 need not necessarily focus on this issue.

The friction between the two leaders has become more vocal and volatile with the two leaders trading barbs at each other constantly on public forums, seriously denting the party’s image. Eshwarappa’s continued involvement with the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade has been a sore spot with Yeddyurappa, who recently announced that he did not need the Brigade’s help to become Chief Minister. In retaliation, Eshwarappa said that the Brigade would work apolitically and it’s aim was not to aid Yeddyurappa.

Meanwhile, following MLC Bhanuprakash’s statement on Friday that a letter airing grievances and signed by several BJP leaders had been sent to Yeddurappa’s office, Keshav Prasad from the BJP office denied that any letter had been received.

BJP state’s General Secretary Aravind Limbavali also said that no such letter had been received. Limbavali also said that when contacted, Vishwanath Hegde Kageri, Raghunath Rao Malkapure, Narayana Swamy Bhandage, M S Somalingappa, Chandra Naik. Ashwathnarayan, Srikanth Kulkarni, Mahesh Tenginakai and N Ravikumar said they had not signed the letter and their names were being misused.
