BENGALURU: Prior to the demolition of encroachment by White House apartment complex, the High Court directed Bruhat Bengauru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to conduct joint survey of the land by Tuesday. BBMP chief engineer will issue a notice in this regard.

The order came a day after the chaos during BBMP’s scheduled demolition to drive to clear encroachment of storm water drains in RT Nagar. Residents of White House Apartment opposed the demolition and approached court. Speaking to Express, sources said the association approached seeking stay order for the demolition drive.

Court however did not allow for the stay and instead directed both the parties for a joint survey.

BBMP chief engineer (storm water drains) Siddegowda said they had conducted the survey twice previously. Both the times it was found that 9.5 guntas land was encroached, he said. "The joint director of land of records will send surveyors to conduct survey. BBMP officials and resident association representatives will be present in the joint survey" he said.

Siddegowda said he will issue notice to the association in this regard, adding they were not expecting to conduct a joint survey by Monday or Tuesday.

It can be recalled that association members staged protest by closing the gate on Wednesday when BBMP authorities went to demolish structure which is said to have been built on the encroached land of storm water drain department.
