In the death note, he mentioned the names of D N Ramesh, corporator of ward number 142 (Sunkanahalli), P N Sadashiva, former corporator of BBMP of the same ward, and

Revenue Inspectors M V Somashekar and N Pradeep. Police said the case has been booked under IPC Section 306 (Abetment to suicide) based on the death note. No arrests have been made.

According to the police, the death note reads: “I was transferred to ward 142 as revenue inspector on November 14, 2016. After I was posted here, I met Sadashiva and Ramesh at their residences and had informed about my posting in the ward. But later, the four people complained against me to the in-charge zonal commissioner (admin) of BBMP for no reason. They obstructed my works and levelled false accusations and on December 14, 2016, Somashekar who was working as revenue inspector in the same ward from a long time, was re-instated in the same place. Dejected by these developments, I am committing suicide.”

Police said Srinivas had dated the suicide note to January 5, 2017, while he killed himself on January 17.
