BENGALURU: Zumba is cardio that is ‘fun’. For anyone looking forward to losing weight the ‘fun’ way, join zumba workshops. Speaking to Jyothsna Venkatesh, zumba instructor and former Miss India Face 2014 on what keeps her going, she explains how zumba has invariably changed her life.

“I was around 78 kgs at one point. Fitness brought a huge difference in my life. I realised how fitness can make an impact after I started working out.” says Jyotsna. She also mentions that this is a workshop on creating awareness about health with added focus to power yoga along with Zumba. “Zumba is more about cardio. It all depends on how much energy a person can utilise.” says Jyotsna. She acquired her zumba instructorship from The Tribe, which certified her on an international zumba learning course. She along with her partner, Jatin Soni, instituted the JJ Fitness & Grooming Experts Center in 2016.

“I also conduct workshop for kids. There is an upcoming kids fashion week festival coming up in the city in February. There will be 100 kids walking the ramp for the first time. We also conduct different kinds of workshops for corporates, beauty pagents and others. For each category, the requirement and level of training varies.” says Jyotsna. Also visiting the event and participating in the yoga session was Veena Jain, who is looking forward to participating in the classic category in Mrs Globe 2017 held in Las Vegas.

She says, “I’m more of a yoga person. Yoga is more for body alignment, not for losing weight. I do yoga and walk everyday.” She also happens to be a vegetarian who advocates practicing yoga on a daily basis. Jatin on the other end has been doing yoga for the past 12 years now. He has extensively travelled to the Himalayas and receieved formal learning in power yoga. “Yoga will help you cure both physically and mentally.” There are different aspects of power yoga, that Jatin aims on teaching his students.

The concept of the event was called, ‘Sain Matin’ which means ‘Healthy Morning’. The team wanted to urge everyone taking the ‘pledge’ in maintaing a fit and healthy life. There were around 20 participants in the event, all coming from different backgrounds. Speaking to Shweta Singh, a fellow zumba teacher of Jytosna, she says, “Zumba is a format that allows you to burn calories while having fun.”
