BENGALURU: Grace, Hobbes and Diva are the responsible pets who gave us the experience of being called the pet parents. Honestly, once you have dogs, it is given that you spend 90 per cent of your time being happy and the remaining 10 per cent slaving for them.

Grace is our first fur baby and trust me its not wrong when siblings fight over favouritism and partial parents! My husband Mangirish and she share an astonishingly unique bond.

When he is not around, she is smart enough to turn the tables around and bully me. We were there when she became a mother and she chose Mangirish over the doctors to conduct her delivery. It was quite a thing and we would never ever get over it!
She is definitely the shrewd one from the brat pack and, unknowingly, we succumb to her tricks in getting the best thing going her way. She is hard to get at first, if you ever want to enter into her friend zone, but once she decides to like you then there is no stopping her.

Hobbes, on the other end, is the funny boy and the whole house is filled with his aura and energy. He was born talented with his ball tricks, and knows his game and the players well. Hobbes is easily called a “lover boy” or a “soul mate” everywhere and by everyone he visits. He also manages to make people buy him more and more balls. No matter how playful he is, he has a very sensitive side and knows exactly when he needs to be comforting and warm.

I will never forget the day when I passed out from low blood-pressure. No one was home then and I woke up to him licking my face wet and plonking his entire body over mine!
He is very possessive of me. Whenever we take a  holiday, and I am driving, I need to give him a few minutes on the driver’s seat before I start. Otherwise he will bark his head off! I would like to believe that he wants me to hold him all the time, while my husband gets his instant obedience and high-fives.

Diva lives up to her name and can get away with a lot of things with her “innocent face”. Yes, right, she is the naughtiest and a legitimate daughter of the two extremes mentioned above. She has taken the best and worst of Grace and Hobbes and hence you can do nothing else but love her. She was the neglected and weak pup from the litter, yet we decided to keep her. Eventually, we realised that it was her trick to stay back and choose us over the 100 families we interviewed for her.
We learn from every dog we have had. Each one of them adds to our experience and wisdom to reach a happier place. There is no greater feeling than being called their humans, chosen to serve them.
