HUBBALLI: After seeing some mysterious giant ‘footprints’ in their village in Gadag district, some villagers of Anthur are now claiming that they have actually sighted an alien creature.
The villagers were going by a bus on Wednesday night when they apparently saw this creature. “It was a two-legged creature about 12 feet tall. It had horns and was moving very swiftly. It came in front of the bus and walked away from Bentur village,” they said.
The bus was travelling between Mulgund and Annigeri. The passengers said they sighted this mystery creature around 8pm at Aaratti Halla (a creek) that is located between Nilgund and Anthur-Benthur villages.
Apparently footprints were found around the place where passengers of the bus are said to have sighted the creature, according to a villager from Bentur.
On Sunday around 2 am, the villagers in Anthur claimed they heard unusual noises which sounded like a creature breathing heavily. They panicked after finding mystery footprints in the fields. The forest officials who visited the village had conducted night vigil and had rebuffed any possibility of alien landing in the backyard of this Gadag village.
On Tuesday, the officials clarified that the footprints could be of a large wild boar which are commonly found in these areas. The officials had also promised to send the photographs to the wildlife institutes for ascertaining after the panic situation gripped the twin villages of Anthur and Bentur.
“Everyone is talking only about the alien. The police and forest department must question the bus passengers to ensure that rumours are not spread to scare the villagers,” said Jayprakash Nagraddi, another villager.
