Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB) which spearheaded the movement was invited to this meeting by George, in which additional chief secretary (urban development) Mahendra Jain was also present.

Manasi Paresh Kumar, a CfB member, attended the meeting. She says, “The meeting was cordial and KJ George was receptive to what we had to say. The meeting was over a hour long, and the fact that a minster is willing to spend that much time listening to us, is an indication that things could look promising. .”

She adds that while George did not commit to anything or make any promises, as he clearly pointed out that the matter is not in his hands alone, residents are hoping that the draft for the common zoning regulations will be revisited.

Srinivas Alavilli, coordinator at CfB, says another meeting is happening regarding this today, with citizens, Jain and urban development minister, Roshan Baig. Thousands of objection letters were filed by citizens on Saturday as part of the #HosaZoningBeda citizen movement, which aims to get the government to go back on their plan to commercialize residential areas in the city as part of CZR.
