BENGALURU: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, started on a bad note as violation of dress code, late entries and protesting parents set the mood for the first day.

Candidates who were late to reach the exam centres, even a few minutes late, were not allowed entry. At the centre at Army Public School in Kamaraj Road, five candidates who arrived at 9:40 am were allowed in after parents protested the decision.

However, these students were sent out an hour later. Most students who had come from other districts found it difficult to identify the exam centre as the address was not clearly mentioned on the admission ticket.

The list of don’ts for the NEET exam included no accessories, no jewellery, long-sleeved shirts, light clothes with no heavy designs and no closed shoes, among others.

Violations, however, were noted in few centre’s and many students were made to conform before being allowed for the test. A girl at one centre was taken to a goldsmith by authorities after she was unable to remove her gold earrings.

In some centres, candidates wearing long sleeve shirts were asked to chop the length as it violated rules. Other candidates who wore shoes to the exam were asked to write their exams barefoot.
