Arkavathy Layout allottees in Bengaluru in a fix over alternative sites

While the government is finally out with an order on alternative sites in Kempe Gowda Layout, Arkavathy Layout allottees, who lost their sites, are still in a fix whether to accept the offer.

BENGALURU: While the government is finally out with an order on alternative sites in Kempe Gowda Layout, Arkavathy Layout allottees, who lost their sites, are still in a fix whether to accept the offer. They fear the allotted sites may not be developed.

Nearly 300 allottees staged a dharna inside BDA Head office at Gutehalli from 11 am to 4 pm demanding justice for their denotified sites. “BDA Secretary Basavaraju has assured the alternative sites will be issued at the same price,” said an allottee.

“A written communication will be issued to each of the allottees conveying the government’s stand and it is up to each allottee to take a decision. We insisted that the sites proposed for handing over have to be developed,” said Nataraj of the Arkavathy Layout Allottees Action Forum.

More than 2,000 allottees have completed registration of sites, paid the taxes for the property and completed the mandatory 10-year lease period while 1,500 allottees have the allotment letters after making full payment. Most of them are unhappy as they do not trust the BDA will develop the site before handing over.

“These sites in Arkavathy Layout would get cancelled and the allotted ones will pose a problem if not developed. That is the main doubt in our minds,” he added.  The allottees will meet on June 7 at the BDA office to take a final call on whether to accept the offer or go on an indefinite dharna.

BDA extends time for payment for sites

The BDA has extended the time by 30 days for making payment for sites allotted at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout in the first phase. Earlier, 120 days had been given for payment upon request of the allottees. The Urban Development Department, vide its order UDD 275 2017 dated May 15 2017, has made provision for another 30 days to make payment.
