Bangalore University to implement Sakaala from June 1

Bangalore University students can soon get examination and evaluation-related services faster as the university is adopting ‘Sakaala’ scheme from June 1.

BENGALURU: Bangalore University students can soon get examination and evaluation-related services faster as the university is adopting ‘Sakaala’ scheme from June 1. As per a decision taken at the meeting of superintendents, officers and computer section staff of the examination branch, the scheme has been implemented on pilot basis on April 1.

According to the students, earlier it used to take at least 15 to 20 days to get provisional degree certificates. But after implementation of the scheme, the waiting time has come down to three to four days.
The examination branch of the university has prepared a calendar for services provided under Sakaala. According to the list, it takes just two days for issuing a provisional degree certificate, migration certificate, official transcript and announcement of PhD results.

“As it is in a pilot stage, issuing of certificates is taking two to three days longer than what we mentioned in the calendar. But by June 1, we will implement it and will stick to the calendar,” a senior official of the examination branch said.

“There are instances where some students had to wait for months to get their degree certificates and if that comes down to days, we will be really happy,” said a principal of a college affiliated to BU.
The university also stated that sticking to the time limit will depend on availability of records in case of old marks cards and degree certificates.

What is Sakaala scheme?
It is a flagship initiative of the state government aimed at providing timely services to citizens (under the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act 2011).
