BENGALURU: A 13-year-old boy’s Facebook addiction put him and his parents in trouble. It all started with an unknown friend request from one Tejal Patel to the victim Aniruddh (name changed).

Aniruddh, a sixth standard student at a private school, had opened a Facebook account in June 2016. After accepting Patel’s friend request, Aniruddh’s inbox was flooded with sexually explicit, obscene content, particularly child porn. A few months later, Patel forced Aniruddh to send him obscene videos of his family members.

Aniruddh, who was unaware of Patel’s intentions, recorded a video of his parents sexual act and sent it to him. Patel then started blackmailing him by demanding a ransom. Patel asked the boy to deposit `1 crore in his bank account and told him that he would upload the video online if he fails to pay him.
Aniruddh immediately told his parents about the threat and explained them everything. His parents immediately filed a case with the cyber crime police. Cops are now tracking Patel using his IP address.
