BENGALURU: Magadi Road police on Friday arrested a Kannada film director and an assistant director on charges of kidnapping the owner of an advertising agency and demanding ransom. The arrested are Madan, who directed ‘Eradu Kanasu’ starring Vijay Raghavendra and Kaarunya, and Chalapathi. The film was released three months ago.

Madan, a resident of  Basaveshwaranagar had hired Paramesh (29) , who owns Akshaya Advertising to promote his film. He had paid Paramesh `13.6 lakh but later accused him of not promting the film well. Paramesh in turn had abused him and said he had done his job.

Paramesh’s father Gurusiddappa filed a complaint with Magadi Road police on Thursday.

A special team of Magadi and Kamakshipalya police swung into action. On Friday evening, police surrounded the farmhouse at Kannamangala gate near Devanahalli where Paramesh was kept captive and nabbed Madan. Madan then revealed the names of his accomplices Chalapathi, Kiran, Murthy and Mohan.
