HC acquits two murder accused

The High Court on Thursday upheld the acquittal of two people by the city civil and sessions court in a 27-year-old shootout case.  

BENGALURU: The High Court on Thursday upheld the acquittal of two people by the city civil and sessions court in a 27-year-old shootout case.  

The sessions court acquitted Ashok Fernandes, son of P J Fernandes and one Atiqe Ibrahim, an employee of Fernandes. The sessions court had acquitted them on March 7, 2009, in a shootout incident in front of Safina Plaza, near Commercial Street Police Station.The incident was reported on February 11, 1990. The division bench headed by Justice Ravi Malimath rejected the appeal filed by the state government against the acquittal in connection with the murder of one Murali and also attempted murder of one Gopi.
