BENGALURU: A minor girl was stabbed in the neck by an unidentified person in Munnekolala here on Wednesday night. The girl is recovering at VIMS Hospital and is said to be out of danger.
According to the police, the victim is Shilpa (17), daughter of a vegetable vendor. Police said she was coming out of her house after locking the doors, when an unknown person stabbed her once on the neck. She was taken to VIMS, where she was operated on and is currently undergoing treatment.

After taking statements of the neighbours, ACP of Marathahalli, Shivkumar said that police were on the look out for a suspect — a man from Jharkhand, who could have stabbed Shilpa because she had spurned his advances.

The doctor treatingher said she cannot talk for at least three days as it would strain her neck and cause bleeding. Police said they are waiting for her to speak to ascertain the identity of her assailant. “Her parents recently moved to the city from Challakere in Chitradurga district and have no idea who the attacker could be,” an officer said.
