Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah commissions four plants to treat sewage in Bengaluru

Bengaluru development minister K J George said all sewage discharged in the city would be treated by the year 2020.

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday commissioned four sewage treatment plants (STPs) for the city which will have the capacity to treat up to 136 million liters of sewage per day.

The following STPs were declared open near the Bellandur Lake: Bellandur Amanikere (90 Million Litres Per Day), Horamavu Agara (20 MLD), Kadugodi (6 MLD) and Doddabele (20 MLD). They form part of the Cauvery Water Supply Stage IV Phase II.

Bengaluru development minister K J George said all sewage discharged in the city would be treated by the year 2020. "With the commissioning of these plants, 982 MLD of sewage will get treated. The city generates 1400 MLD of sewage each day," he said.
