BENGALURU: To make the digital economy push successful, there is a need to provide digital infrastructure first, felt Bangalore Central University Vice-Chancellor Prof S Japhet. He was addressing a one-day national conference on ‘Impact of digital economy on business’, organised by Al-Ameen Group of Institutions in the city on Tuesday.

Prof Japhet said digital economy serves only a section of society, and to make it successful, there is a need to address the digital divide and provide digital infrastructure. “Digital economy will  increase the cleavages in the existing system based on caste, class and gender. We need to address the existing inadequacies like education, healthcare and access to basic facilities before pushing these neo-liberal policies,” he added.

Al-Ameen Group founder Dr Mumtaz Ahmed Khan said, “To attain success, one should have patience throughout, be a resolver and be constant in their efforts. And one should also try to be in the company of optimists and also ignore non-constructive criticism.”

He also reminded the audience about the need to be competitive globally to overtake economies like China and Brazil. “We have to put dedication into our work, strive hard to build character and also build up a global family,” he said. As many as 300 participants from across the nation had registered for the event.
