Assault on hotelier: DGP gets report

BENGALURU: City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar has sent a report to DG&IGP Neelamani Raju to take further action in the alleged assault incident on a hotelier by JC Nagar ACP Manjunath Babu.
On November 15, Manjunath Babu, along with a constable, thrashed Rajiv Shetty, owner of Shetty Lunch Home, because his hotel was open late into the night. The entire scene was captured on a CCTV camera.
According to police sources, in the three-page report, it has been stated that Manjunath took a step that wasn’t necessary. The hoteliers association also met Suneel Kumar asking for security. The sources said, “A complaint has also been registered in connection with the threat call Rajiv Shetty received from a person who introduced himself as Ravi Poojary, a gangster.”Suneel Kumar informed that security has been provided to Rajiv.

According to Rajiv, he got a call on his landline phone around 10.30 pm on Monday and was threatened by Ravi Poojary with dire consequences. According to sources, Ravi called the hotel and asked for Rajiv. When a representative said that Rajiv wasn’t available, the man introduced himself as Ravi Poojary and asked the representative to convey a warning to Shetty.

An audio of the conversation, which is with Express, revea, “Tell Shetty that Ravi Poojary had called from Australia. He knows me very well. If the hotel is not closed, my men will come and start firing at the hotel.”
