George wants Rs 1,880 crore from Centre to offset losses due to rain

Bengaluru Development Minister K J George has asked for a special package of Rs 1,880 crore  from the Centre to mitigate the losses incurred due to rain.

BENGALURU: Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George has asked for a special package of Rs 1,880 crore  from the Centre to mitigate the losses incurred due to rain.He requested the state representatives to be more proactive. “We have already released hundreds of crores.

But the Centre has not provided money to the state and legislators have also not been given funds to develop their constituency. Everything cannot be provided by the state,” he said on Monday. He added that they had identified 24,000 potholes and about 12,000 had been filled. He said the pace would pick up once the rain stops.

Social media centre to hear your grievances
George inaugurated a social media centre at Bengaluru Metropolitan Regional Development Authority on Monday. Citizens can lodge their grievances concerning BBMP, BDA, BWSSB and Metro through Facebook and Twitter. Officials monitoring the complaints will forward them to the departments concerned and they are to reply online.
