Man buries wife, police suspect foul play

Kadugodi police are questioning a 41-year-old mechanic, Venkat Reddy, for burying his wife’s body without informing the police after she allegedly committed suicide.

BENGALURU: Kadugodi police are questioning a 41-year-old mechanic, Venkat Reddy, for burying his wife’s body without informing the police after she allegedly committed suicide. He had filed a missing person’s complaint when his wife Prema eloped with a tenant in June. After she returned, Reddy did not inform the police.

A senior cop said Venkat had filed a missing person’s complaint with Kadugodi police on June 10. “During the investigation, we learned that she had eloped with one Srinath, a private company employee. He was staying as a tenant in the building belonging to Reddy in Belthur village in Kadugodi,’’ he said.
On July 17, Prema returned and Reddy reportedly forgave her. After a month, Prema was found hanging at Reddy’s house. Reddy then took her body to her hometown Chinthamani in Kolar district for burial. Police wants to exhume Prema’s body to ascertain cause of her death. Meanwhile, Srinath is missing.
