BENGALURU: Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of IT firm Infosys, has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, to enhance infrastructure and broaden research activities at the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research at the institute. The grant of `5 crore will be used towards research, training and creating awareness about infectious diseases, benefiting 25 faculty members and 250 students at IISc, according to a release from the foundation. 

Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty stated, “With this MoU, Infosys Foundation aims to set milestones in the area of research of infectious diseases. We will focus on motivating researchers to perform cutting-edge research, as well as train them to raise awareness about infectious diseases.”.
Dr Dipankar Nandi, Convenor, CIDR, told Express that the MoU with Infosys foundation will give a fillip to the work. The centre will be able to have more people and expand its research activities, he added.
