BENGALURU: Only a few stars will be able to climb the success ladder with their debut film. Bollywood actors Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha fit the bill. Their fourth outing together with director Luv Ranjan - Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety – is all set to hit the screens this Friday. The excited star cast, in an exclusive interview with City Express, talks about the film, relationships, bromance and more.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 1 and 2 were sleeper hits. Sonu is once again made in the familiar zone – to cater to youngsters. Will the duo stick on to doing such stereotypical roles? “Why not?” ask Kartik and Nushrat.
“I’ve been doing movies which cater to the youth. Youngsters are the biggest audience right now. This is the audience that will grow with me and they will be with me. When I start doing other genres, they will watch it with lot of expectations. It has been a calculated decision. For now, I want to do youth-centric films and it is working in favour of me,” says Kartik.

The trailer has shades of PKP. But the duo says there is much more in the film than what is shown in the trailer. “PKP was about friendship and love but Sonu is a direct fight between bromance and romance. Sonu will take bromance to next level.” says Kartik.“It’s a full-on entertainment film. It is a larger-than life film, but yet very realistic,” he adds. When asked if he has ever been a third-wheeler in real life, he laughs and says “Yes. I’ve been a third-wheeler and love guru as well.”

Reminiscing about Bengaluru days
Kartik says he used to visit Bengaluru during his modeling days. “I remember I even did a fashion show at IIM-B,” he says. For Nushrat, the city is all about friends and party. “I come here often to meet my friends and we all go out together. Once, my friend took me to a rooftop restaurant where I got a glimpse of this city from the top, at night. It’s a lovely city,” she says.

Talking about Sweety, Nushrat says, “Unlike Babu (the character she played in PKP), I can relate a lot with Sweety. She is bold, practical and she has her life together, which is pretty much what I am. This character is daring and dashing. I played a dumb girl in PKP and that too was a daring decision. But Sweety is complete opposite.”“And Sonu has problems because she is so perfect and he thinks girls can’t be this perfect. That’s when the war begins,” she laughs.

“Basically, we are fighting for ‘who owns Titu (Sunny Singh)’. Sonu – his bestie or Sweety – his fiancée. Who will win the fight? That you will know on Feb 23,” smiles Nushrat. The lead actors say they share a comfortable relationship with the director Luv Ranjan. “Luv and I share a special bond because we started off together. Our sense of humour level is similar,” says Kartik. This self-made actor, says that he looks up at Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, as they too are self-made.

Talking about the lengthy monologue that became an instant hit in both the films, Kartik says “There are a very few actors who got such wonderful sequence or dialogues which remained a highlight throughout their career. I am grateful that I have been part of two such iconic scenes.” When asked if there is a similar scene in Sonu, “That you will get to know only this Friday,” he signs off.
