BENGALURU: A 52-year-old man sustained injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded at a shop in Shivajinagar on Friday evening. The impact was such that a neighbouring house was also damaged in the incident. The injured Ramesh Babu, a businessman, was shifted to NIMHANS with severe head injuries.
A senior police officer said that the incident occurred around 3.10 pm when Altaf Pasha, the shop owner, was refilling the small cylinders.

The explosion took place probably due to leakage. Babu sustained injuries while trying to help Altaf, who came out of his shop unscathed. A passerby Syed immediately called the fire and emergency personnel who rushed to the spot and doused it. “The gas refilling was being done illegally, and Altaf did not have any license. We have filed a case of negligence and further investigation is on,” the officer added.
