BENGALURU: With the Election Commission declaring an increase of 60 lakh registrations of new voters across the state,  a 5K run/walk is being organised on Sunday in Malleswaram to drum up support and raise awareness among voters in general.  “More than 5,000 people are expected to participate in the run,” said the Malleswaram 5K Run foundation and Namma Vote Foundation, the organisers.

The participants will assemble for the event at the Malleswaram Ground at 6 am following which there will be a warm-up session by pinkathon zumba instructor Krishna Arun. The run will commence after the warm-up.

“It will be these first-time voters who can bring a change in the way the city votes. We want to mobilise most of them through the event on Sunday. The event focuses on convincing these new voters about the importance of choosing the right person,” said Dr. Shashibhushan M R, Founder of the Namma Vote Foundation. The event is supported by local MLA Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan, who said such events should be held across the city.
