BENGALURU: A couple died after inhaling carbon monoxide leaked from a gas geyser in their bathroom. The incident occurred in Pattanagere in Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station limits on Tuesday.The deceased have been identified as Mahesh (35), a software engineer, and his wife Sheela (30), a homemaker. The family hailed from Athani in Belagavi and was living in an apartment.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the couple went to take bath in the morning, but came to light only at around 3 pm, when their daughters returned home from school. As there was no response from them, the door was broke open and both were found lying dead in the bathroom.“The postmortem has revealed that they were asphyxiated to death. As the bathroom had poor ventilation, there was no room for the poisonous gas to pass out. Before the couple realised they were inhaling the poisonous gas, they fell unconscious and died,” the police said.
