N/Core selects three startups from city for its cohort

Selected from a pool of 1,177 applications, 60% of the 10 start-ups have women as co-founders.

BENGALURU: Three start-ups from the city have been chosen to be part of the second open cohort of N/Core, an incubator for not-for-profit start-ups, which on Tuesday, announced a three-year partnership with IT services firm Mphasis. The start-ups, which focus on monitoring of urban local bodies, creation of low-cost playscapes and making sports sustainable, will now receive a grant of `10 lakh to achieve their growth. 

Selected from a pool of 1,177 applications, 60% of the 10 start-ups have women as co-founders.  As part of the agreement with Mphasis, the company will invest `4.5 crore to incubate 26 non-profit start-ups over the course of three years. The start-ups selected for the second cohort include MIJINI research foundation which is working on a cloud-based reporting, analytics and scenario planning tool to assess the financial performance of urban local bodies.  

Anthills, founded by Pooja Rai and Nancy Charaya, which works on making unique playgrounds using cost-effective practises and Bridges of Sport, a start-up founded by Nitish Chiniawar, which works on imparting quality sports education and collaborating with local community coaches, are the remaining two start-ups to be selected.
