BENGALURU: Several  parents who are sending their children to Kendriya Vidyalaya located in Malleswaram are upset with the school timings as the classes start at 7 am, for one of its two shifts.
From this academic year, Kendriya Vidyalaya Malleswaram had stared second-shift classes. Classes for the first shift run from 7 am to 12.25 pm and for the second, they run from 12.25 pm to 6 pm.
People sending their children for the first shift said that it is inconvenient and difficult for kids to cope with.

“As the first bell goes at 6.55 am,  we need to leave home at least by 6.30 am. For this, the child should wake up at 5.30 am,” said a parent.Another parent pointed out that it is even a problem for parents as they have to get up at 4 am to prepare breakfast for the children. “It has become difficult even for us to manage these timings. We have requested the principal to change the timings, but the management is not receptive to this suggestion,” he said.

Meanwhile, even the parents who are sending their kids for the second-shift classes have raised objections. “The school does not even provide  transportation and it is not safe for kids to reach home during late evening hours as many parents are still at work and it is not possible to  pick them up at that time,” explained a parent of a child in the second shift.

Despite several requests from parents, authorities at KV have not revised the timings and the second-shift was officially inaugurated on Thursday at the school campus.KV Malleswaram recently got permission from the  Ministry of Human Resource Development   to conduct classes in the second shift following high demand for admissions. Considering the request made by the school authorities, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has granted permission.
