Leaders need to be game-changers, says Biocon chief at IIMB leadership conclave

BENGALURU: The IIMB leadership conclave, termed IIMBue, organised and funded by its alumni, saw a host of provocative sessions on its first day from speakers in different spheres. Speakers included IPS officer Roopa Moudgil, son of business Magnate Anil Ambani Akash Ambani, filmmaker Karan Johar and former badminton player Prakash Padukone. On Saturday, the first session scheduled is a discussion between Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev.

IIM-B director G Raghuram announced that the Karnataka government had agreed to provide 110 acres of land to the institute at Belatahalli and Mahantajiganipura. He added that on the lines of technology parks being created at IITs, IIM-B will set up an innovation park where students could learn about the softer aspects of organisations. 

Biocon MD and chief patron, IIMBue, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, said leaders today needed to innovate, pioneer and be game-changers, and the event hoped to influence the thought process of participants to develop leadership. Former DG (Prisons) Roopa Moudgil spoke about her decision to become the whistle-blower in the Sasikala case and why she stands by it. Akash Ambani was part of a session titled ‘From fragile 5 to five trillion dollar economy: Young business leaders.’ Other members of the panel included co-founder of ID Fresh Food PC Mustafa and Bookmyshow co-founder Ashish Hemrajani.
