Local SIM cards for international passengers now at Bengaluru Airport

According to an official release, the SIM card concept has been introduced ‘to attend to the pressing need of international passengers to get a SIM card immediately upon arrival.

BENGALURU: Two major passenger-friendly amenities have been launched at the Kempegowda International Airport — availability of local SIM cards at the arrivals zone for international passengers and baby stroller service to cater to infants.

According to an official release, the SIM card concept has been introduced ‘to attend to the pressing need of international passengers to get a SIM card immediately upon arrival while also providing domestic passengers multiple SIM card options with prompt activation.’ The cards will be activated within 30 minutes of issuance.

The SIM cards will be provided free of cost but charges need to be paid when topping it up. CXSOL (CX solutions) will issue SIM cards of various service providers including Vodafone, Jio and Airtel, the release said. Apart from SIM cards, the firm will offer wi-fi dongles and other accessories.

In a statement, Javed Malik, Chief Operating Officer, BIAL, said “Bengaluru is the IT capital of India and it is our responsibility to offer our guests technology services. The mobile connectivity outlet is an addition to several premium services we already offer at KIA that can enhance passenger experience.”

Baby strollers
A baby stroller service has also been launched inside the terminal. Managed by First Cry, an online portal for baby products, trained staff will issue strollers through a simple, digitised process, the release said.
