Bengaluru airport gets country’s first crew-only terminal

The facility, which will be operational round the clock, will help crew complete security checks in less time before proceeding to the aircraft.

BENGALURU: Aimed at reducing the waiting period for passengers during security checks at the main terminal, the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is now equipped with a terminal that will cater only to departing domestic crew of all airlines.

An official release from the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said that the airport was the first in the country to set up such a terminal for the crew members. The facility, which will be operational round the clock, will help crew complete security checks in less time before proceeding to the aircraft.  

BIAL Chief Operating Officer Javed Malik said, “BIAL has been a pioneer in airport innovation and the introduction of the crew terminal is testimony to that spirit of innovation.” For now, the terminal will only cater to domestic departing crew members.
