BENGALURU : A group of nine techies, working in various MNCs, in Bengaluru are coming together to stage a 80-minute Kannada play this weekend. Passion towards art is what hooked them all together.
Titled Nee Sutradhari Naa Patradhari, the play explores a common man’s life. Apart from direction, cousins Anoop Sudhindra and Suhas Srinivas have taken more than one responsibility to put up the show.
Suhas says, “The play revolves around the ‘Arishadvargas’  - the six passions of the mind, which are: kama (lust), krodha (anger), lobh (greed), moha (attachment), mada (pride), and matsarya (jealousy). The genre will be drama and comedy. A total of nine people are behind the show,  eight on stage and one in the backstage, fulltime.”

“For any scene, four to five people will be on stage and rest of them will be backstage, as we are a small team,” he adds. All of them are in their 20s. While they work from nine to six during weekdays, for the last four months, they stayed together during weekends to bring out the play. The story line is inspired from a few movies and books.Anoop’s Kanglish (Kannada and English) puns are extremely
popular on Facebook. In 2012, he started ‘Kalaradhakaru’ troupe with the same team, which wasn’t very active. He says, “We used to stage only one play a year and they were adaptations like Makmal Topi and Gampara Gumpu. For the first time we are coming up with original content and we want to take it further from here.”

The team was planning this for the last 10 months and it was able to materialise only in the past four.
The rest of the team includes Ajay Nadig, Ananya Suresh, Vasudev, Akshay Tadapathri,
Ashish Vyas, Guruprasad  Desai and Jeevan MoreyThe poster says, direction from Daayaadigalu, which loosely translates to cousins. “We wanted to grab people’s attention,” chuckles Anoop.
