BENGALURU:The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has come out with its preliminary notification in connection with properties that will be acquired for the Outer Ring Road (ORR) line. The Rs 4,202-crore project will be the first of Namma Metro lines that will be built with support from corporates. The 17-km fully elevated line will connect K R Puram Junction to Silk Board Junction (Phase-2A) via ORR. It received the state cabinet’s approval on February 28, 2018. General Manager of Land Acquisitions, BMRCL, M S Channappagoudar told The New Indian Express that 48 properties have been notified so far. The total land acquired comes to 36,782 sqmt.

“This will be the Metro line that will require the smallest number of properties to be acquired. Since the line is fully elevated, the land we are looking out for is only for pillars supporting the viaducts as well as the entry and exit points of stations. It is only for Iblur station that we require some portion of land.” No landmark property is required for the line and most of the patches of land to be acquired are open spaces. “The biggest parcel of land we will be taking from a single property is 3,000 sq m and there will be no problem in it as it is a state government land,” he said. “We are looking at paying a compensation amount of around Rs 400 crore,” he added. BMRCL has issued a notification to the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, which will send the list to the government for its approval before it is despatched to property owners, he added.

MoUs have already been signed with Intel for developing Bellandur Metro station and with Embassy Group for developing Kadubeesanahalli Metro station a few months ago.Tenders have already been issued for the ORR line as three packages and the process is being finalised now. BMRCL is confident of completing this line along with the rest of Phase-II by 2021. This line, with 13 Metro stations, will also connect Reach-1 (Baiyappanahalli to MG Road) and Reach 5 (RV Road and Bommasandra) of Phase-II.
Asked about the overall land position for the 72.1 km Phase-II project, Channappagoudar said BMRCL has acquired 168 acres so far and paid a compensation of Rs 3,145 crore.
