Bengaluru: HAL sets up board to probe Sukhoi jet crash

The aircraft, which was being piloted by Wing Commander Prashant Nair and Squadron Leader L Biswal (flight test engineer), crashed while on a sortie in Ozar area of Nashik at 11 am. 

BENGALURU: Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has set up a board to look into the crash of a Su 30 MKI aircraft produced at HAL Nashik. The aircraft crashed on Wednesday morning. The aircraft, which was being piloted by Wing Commander Prashant Nair accompanied by Squadron Leader L Biswal (flight test engineer), crashed while on a sortie in Ozar area of Nashik at 11 am. Both the pilots ejected safely and parachuted to the ground.

“The board of investigation has been ordered to find out the exact cause,” a HAL spokesperson said. Last year, two SU30 MKI jets crashed within months in Barmer, Rajasthan, and another near Tezpur in Assam
killing the crew in the latter incident.
