855 forms processed at Passport Mela

To expedite the application process in view of the high demand for passports, a ‘Passport Mela’ was organised by the Regional Passport Office, in the city on Saturday at the two Passport Seva Kendras on Lalbagh Road and in Marathahalli.

As many as 1,290 appointment slots were given to applicants. The appointment slots to register for the mela was  announced  on June 1. 

The mela was announced to ease the rush of applicants and make the services available to more people. As many as 855 applications were processed during the mela. The Bangalore Regional Passport Office handles more than 1,600 applications daily, five times more than it used to handle three years ago, a release said.

The Passport Seva Kendras staff assisted applicants by working extra hours and the applicants were also satisfied with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, technology upgrades to speed up processes as well as improved amenities that ensured timely processing of the applications, the release added.

Applicants can track the status of their passport online using their ARN by logging on to www.passportindia.gov.in.
