A 41-year-old employee of BMRCL was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a sump at the Metro Station in Malleswaram near Mantri Mall on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Venkatesh, a resident of Dasarahalli in Peenya, who was working as an office assistant in the station.

Police said Venkatesh went missing three days ago and a complaint was registered at Malleswaram police station. Around 6.30 pm on Saturday, the staff at the Metro station found his body floating in the sump inside the station and alerted the police.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that Venkatesh had a quarrel with the security guards at the station a few days ago and had informed his family members of the incident. Investigations are on to find out whether he accidentally fell into the sump or if it was a murder. However, the exact cause for the death will be known only after we get the post-mortem report,” the police said.

Malleswaram police have registered a case.
