If you are smart enough to come up with an innovative science project that can capture the attention of millions, a minor planet will be named after you. This is what global chip manufacturer Intel is promising winners of its International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held every year in the US.

As part of the selection process for ISEF, Intel on Thursday announced the 7th edition of the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS) 2013, which is an annual competition in association with the Department of Science and Technology and CII.

Entries shortlisted from IRIS will be sent to ISEF where, besides having a minor planet named after them, students also stand a chance to win more than Rs 25 crore in prizes and scholarships. As many as 126 projects and 200 students have been selected this year out of all direct entries and science fairs held in the country. They will now be evaluated to judge the best of the lot.
