The mystery surrounding December 21 might send shivers down the spine of many, but there are a few who might heave a sigh of relief in the advent of such calamity.

Yes, we are talking about the BBMP officials who have been trying hard to diffuse the burning issue of garbage menace.

With rumours of the world coming to anĀ  end, there will be no more garbage issues and the BBMP officials can finally rest in peace.

When City Express spoke to some of the corporators on the end to garbage menace before doomsday, mixed reaction came across.

"We should let people live in peace and hygiene till the world exists. Irrespective of whatever happens to the world, we should work towards a clean city," saidĀ  Abdul Rakib Zakir, corporator of Pulikeshinagar.

While the corporator of Domlur, Geetha Sreenivas said, "I do not agree that the world will come to an end. But it will definitely take time for us to tackle the garbage issue as we are heading a huge task without a proper vision. Decentralisation of work is the only way we can solve this issue. "

Former Deputy Mayor S Harish said, "Today almost all the cities are sitting on an atom bomb of garbage issues which can explode anytime like in Bangalore. Since there was no scientific way to deal with it, the problem started aggravating. We are sure to address this problem over a period of few months."

The citizens have no hope of witnessing a clean Bangalore at least in their life time.

"Well, I guess we have to wait for the world to end for the garbage menace to end forever. The recent events have strengthened my belief that a clean Bangalore is out of question," said Priyanka Nair, a resident of Koramanagala.

Leena Parvathy, a housewife said, "I feel officials will be the happiest lot if the earth ends. There will no more criticism to face and the public will no more have to abide by their diverse rules every now and then."
