CHENNAI: The “autobiography” of VGP Group — one of the State’s oldest retail business houses — was released here on Wednesday. Authored by Vice-Chairman of the conglomerate V G Selvaraj, the book titled “Shine on the Sweat” was released by Dravidar Kazhagam chief K Veeramani. Sathyabama University Chancellor Jeppiaar, received the first copy.

The Tamil version of the book was released by Speaker Avudaiyappan and received by VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan.

Congratulating Selvaraj for bringing out a comprehensive book on VGP Group, Avudaiyappan said, “The author has recorded the growth of retail empire and gave more emphasis on how to develop business in a competitive world without diluting the principles.”

Veeramani hailed the book and said Selvaraj narrated the family history without hiding the hurdles its members faced in the process of business growth. He also appealed to the State government to introduce history of VGP Group in school and college textbooks.

The book includes family history in chronological order.
